I have a pretty big area for a backyard garden. I live in Salt Lake City, Utah. I say that , so you know the climate and soil conditions.
What should I plant in my garden this year?
please go down to your local plant nursery and find out what they recommend, this is the best way you will find out what to plant, they know what suits the climate. I am in Australia and have no idea but if I lived in your climate this is what I would do.
You could also look at what your neighbours have in their gardens, this will also give you ideas
Good luck
Reply:Coreopsis. If you like flowers, that is. A great edible wildflower.
And lots of cherry tomatoes. Nothing smells better than a tomato plant getting warm in the sun.
If you have a big area, maybe you would also be interested in starting out a few little citrus saplings? They are pretty easy to keep trained down to a manageable size.
Reply:I have never planted a garden myself, although my dad did when I was a kid. We always tried to plant the ingrediants for salsa. Tomatoes, peppers, onions, garlic, cilantro. One of these days I'm going to plant a salsa garden.
... oh, it just occured to me that maybe you are not looking for a vegtable garden, but a flower garden. I don't know hardly anything about flowers. If that's what you're looking for I'd check out the gardens on Temple Square, at least you'll know what grows up there.
Reply:grow a pancake tree...so every morning you can pick some pancakes for breakfast
