Are the nightcrawlers that sporting goods stores sell the kind of earthworms to use in the garden?
Sorry, but you are all wrong so far. They are indeed just common earthworms. Same kind you dig up in the garden. But as said mulch and they will come.
Reply:Prior answerer is right, they are not the same. Where do you get them? From friends who have really good soil, and they can give you a couple-dozen in exchange for a few beers.
Reply:NO Earthworms are "natural soil tillers"...in other words they till the soil, keeping it loose and moist, they also release a bacteria from their waste that is beneficial to gardens.
Reply:It's better to use redworms. They are often sold at bait stores. They have better survival than nightcrawlers.
Reply:no they are not the kind you use in the garden and i have no idea where you would find some
