How do I keep cats from defacating in the garden and digging up/killing my plants?

The smell of cat poo and urine is spoiling summer in the garden but I don't want to harm the animals. I have tried a cat sprinkle from Wilkinson which is great but washes away in the rain and eventually gets expensive. Any other solutions ? thank you

spread moth ball around where they go.

or pee all around your peperty line
Reply:You have to make it an unpleasant place that they don't want to go.

There are lots of plants that they don't like the scent of. However my favorite is a spray bottle with a long range! They hate being wet and it shocks them. Doesn't hurt them at all, but it works.
Reply:I use citrus fruits.

Quartered lemons works best, you need to replace them after about 4 to 5 days.

Good Luck
Reply:Sprinkle Red Pepper flakes around the garden area that is most often used. Should help after a short time. If red pepper flakes don't solve the problem, use black pepper. Another solution would be to set up an outdoor litter box.
Reply:firstly get a soil sterilizer liquid an water in, no harm to plants. then orange peel over the area, cats hate it, it rots away making good fertilizer.
