I was told by a non-gardening person that worms where good for your garden. If that is true can i just get some bait worms and through them in the garden or is there a difference.
Are worms good for your garden?
Yes, very helpful:
"In more compacted soils the earthworm actually eats its way through the soil, cutting a passage with its muscular pharynx and dragging the rest of the body along. The ingested soil is ground up, digested, and the waste deposited behind the worm. This process aerates and mixes the soil, and is constructive to nutrient uptake by vegetation. In addition, earthworms often come to the surface and graze on the higher concentrations of organic matter present there, mixing it with the mineral soil. Because a high level of organic matter is associated with soil fertility, an abundance of earthworms is beneficial to the organic gardener. In fact as long ago as 1881 Charles Darwin wrote:
"It may be doubted whether there are any other animals which have played so important a part in the history of the world, as have these lowly creatures""
Reply:Worms help airate the soil and allow water at the roots as well as pooping at the same time which is fertilizer.
Reply:yess.. worms is good for the soil... make the soil healthier.. my garden somehow full with worms and the flower grows very healthy and beautiful..
bait worms would be nice...
Reply:Yes they are , they make holes around your roots and it allows them to breath.
Reply:Definitely! Worms are great for a garden. And bait worms would be the answer.
Reply:yes, they areate the soil...
Reply:That is great but worms are an indication that you have good soil. Merely buying worms will not be your solution. They will die in bad soil so do not waste your money.

Reply:Yes they are good, they help to churn the soil as well as help give nutrients, I don't think that bait worms would help, unless they are earth worms.
Reply:You bet they are good...they are great for your garden. I recently read an article about how worms can till the soil in a garden and leave castings (their feces) that make the soil better.
I know people who buy and raise worms for this purpose. Bait worms would work. Check with your local nursery too.
Reply:Caterpillars are part worm..but i don't recommend them..they will eat your plants
Reply:Worms are great for your garden! They fertilize your soil and help break down organic matter. I wouldn't think you would have to buy worms...they should already be in your soil...and if they're not, then just buying some and putting them in your garden won't do much good...you'll want to add some organic matter like compost or decomposing leaves to make it a place where worms can thrive.
Reply:Yes, worms aerate the soil, which is good for the plants. You shouldn't need to go out and buy bait worms; worms are probably already present in the soil in your gardedn; just because you can't see them doesn't mean they are not there.
Reply:worms help the nutrients in your garden balance out, throw in some night crawlers and some regular worms and your garden will be good
Reply:Worms help to churn over and aerate the soil. I imagine that any worms can do that job sufficiently.
