How do grubs affect a garden?

I'm trying to make a garden but i've discovered grubs in the ground. Should i be worried? If so how would i go about getting rid of them?

How do grubs affect a garden?
As others have already answered, grubs can eat the roots of your plants. Plants cannot survive without roots, especially if there is dry weather.

Also, some grubs are the immature state of Japanese beetles. Mature Japanese beetle will eat the leaves of many plants, leaving just the bare stems and veins of the leaves.

Japanese beetles can destroy your garden very quickly!
Reply:Grubs eat your flowers and fruits and vegetables!!
Reply:They LOVE the tender roots of plants. Sink a margarine container into the ground, pour in some beer and they'll be floating in the beer in the morning. They seem to love a drink after or with their dinner.

Reply:Grubs usually feed on the roots of plants. I would treat the soil with the proper chemicals for grubs. Use the regular stuff you can get at Home Depot. Then plant.
