The pear tree in my garden is very old and overgrown. Up to now the fruit has been sparse and small in size. We have never eaten any of it. This year there has been a bumper crop of larger fruit. How can I find out if it is safe to eat?
How can I find out if the fruit from the pear tree in my garden is safe to eat?
I have grown a number of diferent types of Pear and never heard of any type that is unsafe, some are tastier than others and some are juicier but none of them unsafe nor can i think of any fruit that could be confussed with a pear.
Reply:Of course it will be ok to eat, it's a fruit tree.
Reply:Gently squeeze. If they give a little.Ready.If in the first week of two of November you cut the branches back. You get a bumper crop the following year.
Reply:As long as it looks Ok, cut it in half to check I have always eaten fruit from our trees.
Reply:As long as you weren't dousing it with pesticides it's safe to eat if it's in your yard. Lucky you, I'd love to have a pear tree!
Reply:If it's an eating pear then of course it is safe to eat. Even perry pears are safe, just not so juicy.
Reply:It is safe to eat, and lucky you having a pear tree.
Reply:Offer some to a neighbour and if he dies then you know it is not safe.
Reply:Give some to somebody you don't like. Why wouldn't it be safe?
