Kassandra makes a good point. I was going to say that the squirrels are doing what comes naturally. They are foraging for food and they'll be having their young soon. I keep a bag of dog kibble and throw it down AWAY from my planting so it's easy for the squirrels to access and it is nutritious for them too. They leave my plants alone.

Reply:Wait for them with a .22 rifle and shoot them on site.
Reply:I've seen people put their bulbs in a wire mesh cage. The squirrels can't get them and they flower fine through the opening in the mesh.
Reply:sprinklle cayanne pepper arond
Reply:Mothballs.
Reply:You can use cayenne pepper temporarily, remember you must sprinkle it on again after any rain. If you want something permanent, you will have to place netting over the bulbs (the kind used to keep deep from eating plants) in the spring time. Squirrels are persistent.
Reply:Throw peanuts into your neighbours yard so they get used to going there. LOL i know it awful but thats what I did for my grandma.
Reply:You can try sprinkling fresh cayenne pepper (not old stuff that has lost its "umph"), and it will irritate thier noses and mouths, and deter them.

If that doesn't work - then laying down hardware cloth or chicken wire in the ground as you plant the bulbs - to act as a physical barrier between the surface and the bulbs, yet allows the bulbs to grow up through, might be the only way to keep them out.
Reply:go to .dutchbulbs. they have a spray bottle of hot pepper wax spray
Reply:Squirrels dont realy eat the bulbs they are usually after the bone/blood meal that they are sometimes packed with or planted with I vote feed them peanuts sunflowerseed and corn good luck
