I have just finished building a cedar 8'x8' garden shed. I have a trellus with foilage on it north west of the shed about 5' from corner. My house is about 15' north of the shed. I would like to decorate the ground with plants and a walkway to door on shed(north side of shed). Lots of shade with little sun on north and evening sun on west of shed. Any suggestioins?
How would you decorate your garden?
Yes, I would put in hosta to fill in the shady area, and astillbe in the more sunny area and include a bird house on a pole for decorations near the shed area (it might even get used next spring) . Also I might put in a old mail box painted how you like (you sound creative, I did mine like a watermelon) by the walkway to the shed as a place to set you garden hand tools. Little picket fences in front of the shed would look good too. Not sure about your space there however. It will all come together to look very attractive. I have done all the above plus several other looks for the yard, IE an old push mower with a flower planter on top, wheelbarrow filled with flowers, bird baths, garden statues mixed amongst the flowers all depending on sun and location to the house. My yard is quite large with many flowers so I can get away with several focal locations and even included a pond a couple years ago. Have fun.
Reply:I love daylilies. My yard has many many dayliles. I also have lilacs, bridal veil, and flocks. My front yard has canna, rose of sharon, and spiderworts. On the shady side I have hosta.
Reply:Hey there, go to http://www.hgtv.com and go to landscapers challenge. They have lots of ideas for your yard...it really depends on the person and what you want to do. Good luck and have fun! =)
