How do I stop cats engaging in "romantic activity" in my back garden?

The noise is incredible! I don't want to turn a garden hose on them or anything like that, I'd just rather that they chose somewhere else! Any tips?

How do I stop cats engaging in "romantic activity" in my back garden?
Orange peel keeps cats out - they can't stand the smell, if that fails the hose won't do them any harm!
Reply:Put drops of eucalyptus oil around your fence. Cats hate it. Renew after rain.
Reply:lion dung - we had a similar problem, we rang the zoo and got a bag full
Reply:Put up a sign that says:

Cats in heat are out of bounds!!!
Reply:You can get ultrasonic devices that emit a high frequency sound (beyond human hearing) that will drive cats away.

Google Ultrasonic cat, will get you loads of results.
Reply:stones or sterilisation
Reply:ever considered adopting a puppy?

Sorry, that's all I can think of besides just leaving on the sprinkler.
Reply:Lion poo.
Reply:Film it and post it on the web. They'll be international mega-stars and living the high life with Paris Hilton and the like. They'll soon forget the garden that made them.
Reply:Grated orange peel works pretty good , cats hate the smell, planting mint in different areas as cats hate the smell of mint , theres also a thing called coll tar soap if you grate that and sprinkle it around the garden the cats dont seem to like it, other people i know seem to water their gardens at night as cats dont like wet areas that much tends to stop them digging in the borders, hope this might help you
Reply:If it's a black and white tom with a scarred nose feel free to use the hose! I don't recommend throwing jugs of water it's a bit embarrassing when you're left just holding the handle and I don't want him hurt. A spray bottle with just plain water would shift him! He's quite fond of Orange (I'm afraid I use Orange Oil on the furniture) Most cats hate it though. Eucalyptus will work and the get off spray from the pet shop, I'll fetch some round OK!

Errr You do live in Cat Close, don't you?
Reply:i just keep a water pistol, and spray them they soon run off, without any harm.as i wouldn't hurt them.or put a couple of scarcrows in you garden, you can buy them from cheapy, shops or garden centres.
Reply:capture them and get them fixed.
Reply:Put grated Orange peel in your garden cats don't like it.
Reply:buy yourself some good earplugs!
Reply:give it a hand
Reply:Cats hate smell of tangerine or satsuma peel. Leave some around in the garden. My sister swears by it. I haven't tried it myself, though - do not have a garden :(
