How do I get rid of moss on top of an uncultivated garden plot?

I have just inherited an uncultivated garden plot. The moss completely covered the top of the dirt. It hasn't been used for about 7 years. I turned it over twice, and it seemed to be gone, however with the recent rain it has appeared again.

the moss is great for your soil, better than any manure or other fertilizer keep digging it in and plant out.

The summer will dry out the soil and the moss will disappear plants will take the nutrients out of the soil that the moss needs but all that moss is very healthy.

PS lots of gardeners cultivate it for lining hanging baskets
Reply:We used dish detergent, but it takes 48 hours of sun to work and you still have to pull up the dead moss.
Reply:There are demossing cemicals to fine at the home Depo or maybe Wal mart but the very best thing is to soke the are with gasoline and mix it into the soil a little and burn the hell out of it.
Reply:Moss roots grow down about twelve inches or so, so you need to dig deep, pull the dirt out and shake the roots to save the dirt and toss the roots. That should work.
