How much will it cost to clear my garden?

My garden is currently a 70ftx25ft jungle. It apparently housed commercial green houses at one point which have now been collapsed in to the ground (by the previious owners of the property), so it's FULL of rubble and glass and 6ft high weeds! I need this clearing, new top soil and would like a nice new lawn but have no idea how much to excpect to pay. Any ball park figures would be handy. Thanks

How much will it cost to clear my garden?
The cost will depend on how much rubbish you want to be removed, maybe hire a skip and get you're bloke and his mates to do it, or it mite cost a few hundred as for the gardening you'l be looking at about 200 squid for the size garden you have. Ask neighburs or friends if they have used a local company or can recomend 1 to you, gardeners and people that do this kind of job can really take the piss, I used to do it but I was a nice 1. I would offer my servises but am in china just now, anyway, good luck with that.
Reply:it depends if you have trees, and how big the rocks are etc. I just had 5 trees taken down so i didn't have to worry about them falling on the house during a hurricane. We got estimates from $1-$3k. That's the best I can help, but i highly recommend getting more than two estimates for such a costly job.
Reply:If you have a shed that can be locked at night what you can do is buy 20 island red chickens and let them run free in your garden but lock them away at night they will clear your garden in no time at all and also you will get fresh eggs avery day (20 a day) which you can sell to people and save this money untill the garden is clear...... then you can either sell the chickens or...... sunday roasts for 20 weeks also if you live near the midlands and you still have the greenhouses i will take them of your hands for you...What do you think ?
Reply:I don't know what area you live. In my area a labourer costs in the region of £50.00 per day, some bring sandwiches and you provide tea or you might provide a dinner. You need to keep a watch on things just to see they are actual working and not fiddling or something to take advantage.

It would be best to get a farmer man with tractor and trailer to remove the rubbish sometimes they require filling for old dams or wet holes.

[Skip hire is costly and you are restricted to what rubbish is thrown in there.]

Landscape gardeners are very pricey and you garden needs a lot of manual labour done and a farmer would know a lot about sowing out fertilising and week control.

In my area a lot of farmers are diversifying for other work and free to do general maintaince.
Reply:why not call some landscape companies that give free estimates?
Reply:in uk ...skip hire 3x £600,access to garden ? manual handle £100 aday per man,if digger can get in £500,hire fee, new topsoil, may b,may get away using current soil, and turf only turf october to march will establish quicker, bout 583 sq m of turf at £1.75 per sq metre, total bill £3500 .post another question if u get it cheaper

Reply:clearing the weeds is no problem,it depends if you want all the glass removed,or just covered with top soil, you have to think that each skip of rubbish will be around £100,i would spay it all with roundup, that will kill the roots off,the turf will cost a fair bit, along with screened top soil, the ground has to be rotovated, levelled, and rolled,is access to the garden easy?,its a killer lugging turf off a lorry through allyways etc,to be honest i wouldnt expect much change from £1000,depending what sort of job you want done, like someone said, get a few quotes, dont always go for the cheapest though
