I am wanting to plant strawberries this year in my garden, do you have any tips?

I would like to plant these in my raised garden with some other veggies. I have a 16X16 bed. Any info would help. Thanks!

You will do well to plant many, and after they are planted use straw to keep the fruit off the ground and away from the slugs and snails that loves them.

Good luck
Reply:Make sure you have plenty of room for them and plant them far away from any flower beds that you don't want them to grow in. I planted three plants 5 years ago beside my front porch and I am still pulling them up in all my flower beds and even out by my whiskey barrel which is clear out by the road.
Reply:You didn't mention where you live. I replant mine every other year as early in the spring as possible. As soon as the ground thaws I start. I always get a real healthy crop out of a very small garden space. You should do just fine with a 16 x 16 garden. Beware of the rabbits.
Reply:I agree with what the others said. Unless you have a disease resistant variety, be cautious about planting around peppers and tomatoes. Many varieties are susceptible to verticillium wilt. Also, water in the mornings so that the plants have enough time to dry off by the evening. Strawberries don't mind some well rotted compost as well!
Reply:yea dont plant them else were they will ruin your garden once you plant then you wont get rid of them
